“Where do you want to go for dinner?” “I don’t know.” (An actual conversation with my husband, times infinity.) Sometimes I say ‘I don’t know’ because I don’t really care where we go (but DO I?). Sometimes I say it because I don’t want to take responsibility for it if it sucks. (Can I see some raised hands if this is you, too?)
Yay for creating a Substack (I DO know it’s a good decision!) and thank you for this insight into decision making and choices. I love the idea of failing faster! I am usually a fairly snap-decision maker with almost everything (thanks to Input-Futuristic-Strategic-Intellection-Connectedness strengths which play very nicely together) except when I know my decisions are going to directly disappoint someone else in a big way. Then I tend to drag out the process longer (and yes, thank you for the reminder of inaction actually being a choice!). In this season of life I am working on building up my tolerance for disappointing others. It’s inevitable... after all, I’m not a taco!!!
